PINONetwork member representatives Sinikka Suutari from Oulu University of Applied Sciences and Mika Kananen from Educational Consortium OSAO attended eLearning Africa conference in Abidjan, Ivory Coast at the end of October.
PINONetwork was well represented also in the exhibition area throughout the conference on the stand of Team Finland.
“PINONetwork was very popular at the stand and the representatives of many African countries were interested in Finnish education system and are more than eager to start co-operation with Finnish companies and educational institutions”, says Mika Kananen.
eLearning Africa is one of the biggest conferences on education development in Africa held annually in different countries of the continent. More than thousand experts from Africa and all over the world were on site.
“One of the aims of the visit was to map out co-operation possibilities in Africa and to collect the needs and demands of the continent in the field of education”, says Kananen.
Part of the programme set up by Finnpartnership included meetings with Association for development of education in Africa ADEA and African Development Bank Group AfDB. The Finnish delegation was led by Her Excellency, the Finnish Ambassador for Ivory Coast, Mrs. Seija Toro.
ADEA is an African platform in solving global issues including for example educational development in Africa. It acts as a political forum and as a network of decision makers in Africa. One of the aims of the organization is to act as a catalyst for accelerated reform of education and in promoting critical knowledge skills and qualifications.
African development Bank visit was also very fruitful and informative and the wide scope of expertise, services and products of PINONetwork were successfully presented to AfDB.
“The network will also provide further information about educational solutions for AfDB to enhance co-operation possibilities”, promises Kananen.
